Who am I?

Treetops, KenyaHey folks, for those of you that don’t know me, I’m Jennie Thorpe, AKA Mrs 12gauge Thorpe.

I decided it was about time that I give a little insight to the rest of the world, as to what it means to be married to an up and coming UK MMA fighter. To talk about the highs and the lows, the arguments and the celebrations, the good times and the bad. To give an insight in to my marriage, a marriage I share with a noxious mistress, and how I cope with the stresses and strains she places upon me.

Believe it or not, there was a time, over a decade ago now, where my life was not consumed by MMA or cage fighting. In fact, I was too busy with life as a college student to care for such things, instead my life was about studying, socialising with my friends and trying to discover myself as a person. However, on January 8th 1999 I met Matt and things were to change.

  1. I can tell this is going to be good! 🙂

  2. Excellent idea.

People forget that being fighter takes a lot of support. Not just from the coaches and team around hm, but from his family. Being the partner of a fighter can be tough. Fighting is all encomapssing, it takes over a fighters life and there isn’t much room left for loved ones. It takes a very special lady to be able to support a fighter through the highs and lows of training and fighting.

I’ll be following your blog and hope many other people do, just to see a different side of MMA

    Aaron

PS Don’t forget to mention it was YOU who got Matt in to MMA 🙂

Aggggghhhhhh just getting into that 😉

  4. Looking forward to this and I can’t wait for the next one now. I had to dictionary.com ‘noxious ‘ and I am still confused as to if it’s Matt’s bit on the side or a metaphor for mixed martial arts (I think its the later)?

Love it! I needed a word to encompass how i view MMA. Lets face it, all those involved become consumed with MMA, it becomes an addiction, it becomes your life. I like the word ‘noxious’ as it means to be ‘harmful to life or health, especially by being poisonous. It is likely to cause moral, spiritual, or social harm or corruption’. I think its perfect.
As for Matt having a another woman, at least I could her arse!!
